The effective pigment solution for sensitive skin

Skin discoloration and dark patches can cause emotional distress. With CALECIM®’s Professional Pigment Solution, you no longer have to suffer in silence

Skin discoloration and dark patches can cause emotional distress. With CALECIM®’s Professional Pigment Solution, you no longer have to suffer in silence.

If you have dark patches or spots on your face or hands, you’re not alone. These discolorations can be due to melasma or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The former is caused by hormonal imbalances while the latter occurs following skin conditions like psoriasis, acne, eczema, trauma (eg. picking or burns), or cosmetic procedures. Pigmentation can be stubborn and it tends to relapse. Resorting to harsh active ingredients and procedural work run the risk of sensitising or further irritating skin. It is important, therefore, to find a treatment that is gentle and safe while being effective.

CALECIM®’s Professional Pigment Solution (PPS) fulfils these requirements. It is formulated with a combination of novel and proven discoloration ingredients that provide a long-term solution for these skin conditions.

PTT-6®

PPS’ key ingredient is PTT-6® which is naturally produced by cord lining stem cells. These proteins and exosomes are able to bind effectively to skin, delivering rejuvenating effects. The cord lining stem cells also naturally secrete vascular endothelial growth factors and fibroblast growth factors which promote healing and repair of the epidermal and dermal matrix. Interleukin-10 and Transforming Growth Factor (beta) 1 are two unique cytokines – or signaling proteins - it contains that have anti-inflammatory properties.

4-Butylresorcinol

4-Butylresorcinol is a skin lightening agent. A randomized trial published in The Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venerealogy proves the high inhibitory capacity of 4-n-butylresorcinol on human tyrosinase activity.1 Tyrosinase is an enzyme that controls the production of melanin (the pigment responsible for giving skin colour). The copper-containing enzyme catalyses the production of melanin by oxidation.

Arbutin

Arbutin evens out and brightens skin tone, and can lighten darkened areas and scars. A derivative of hydroquinone, a topical skin lightener, it is famed for its ability to leave your skin aglow.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP)

This is a water-soluble yet oil-loving stabilised form of Vitamin C that improves penetration into skin. It has been shown to improve the look of an uneven skin tone when used in concentrations between 2-5%2.

Tranexamic Acid

Tranexamic acid has traditionally been used as an oral medication for heavy menstrual bleeding3. It reportedly controls pigmentation by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators involved in triggering the production of melanin.

Alpha Arbutin

Alpha arbutin, a naturally occurring derivative of hydroquinone, acts by reducing tyrosinase activity, which results in a reduction of age spots, acne scars and post-blemish redness.4

Glutathione

Glutathione works directly to inactivate tyrosinase.

Arisaema Amurense Extract

Arisaema amurense extract helps reduce blemishes and dark spots by inhibiting melanin production and reducing the production of tyrosinase to make skin smoother and brighter naturally.5

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract

Camellia sinensis is commonly known as green tea. When blended into skincare formulations, it can provide UV protection and combat free radical skin damage.6

Sigesbeckia Orientalis Extract

Also known as ‘the heavenly herb’, sigesbeckia orientalis originates from Madagascar and is valued in skincare for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties.7

Lactic Acid

One of the most popular alpha hydroxy acids available, lactic acid is a common ingredient of over-the-counter skincare products. It helps improve skin’s in-built process for keeping itself hydrated as well as fade sun or age spots.8

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3. Research has found 5 per cent niacinamide concentrations can be helpful in lightening dark spots and effective in treating hyperpigmentation and damage related to sun exposure.8

Cetearyl Isononanoate

Cetearyl Isononanoate provides smoothness and softness to skin.

Glycerin

Glycerin has both moisturising and exfoliating properties. When applied topically, its humectant attributes improve hydration and soften the top layer of skin, facilitating exfoliation. Removing dead skin cells helps brighten a dull complexion and improve the appearance of dark spots, scars and age spots.9

Tocopheryl Acetate

Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of vitamin E that provides beneficial antioxidant effects and protects skin from damage due to UV rays.

Allantoin

There is anecdotal evidence that allantoin helps moisturise skin by exfoliating dead skin cells.10

Lecithin

According to the Zoe Report, lecithin provides three main benefits: as a skin-softening emollient, a gentle emulsifier, and to encapsulate active ingredients. It contains fatty acids that help soften and smooth skin.11

Linolenic Acid

Linolenic acid is known to have a whitening effect on hyperpigmented skin. It accelerates removal of melanin from the epidermal layer.

Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate

This is an anti-oxidant and stable form of vitamin C that interacts with copper ions in tyrosinase, acting as a reducing agent at various steps of melanin formation. It has  the ability to even out skin tone and protect skin from free radical damage.12

The combination of ingredients in Professional Pigment Solution helps prevent and treat pigmentation in a gentle way, not only after hyper-melanosis takes place but well before. It builds up skin’s resilience to inflammatory stimulants and supports in-clinic discoloration treatments without further irritating skin.
